Medical Ground Transport

For some patients, the least stressful and most cost-effective method of transport is medical ground transport. If the patient is not in critical condition and cannot or will not fly, long-distance medical ground transport is a remarkable option. Additionally, non-emergency medical transport provides a cost-saving alternative to air ambulance travel.

We can coordinate several levels of medical ground transport care depending on the patient’s needs.
  • Basic Life Support ("BLS") Ambulance
  • Advanced Life Support ("ALS") Ambulance
  • Specialty Care Ambulance
  • Bariatric Ambulance
  • Psychiatric Ambulance
  • Long-Distance Medical Coach

Patients with the following conditions are ideal candidates for long distance medical ground transport:
  • Chronic Illness
  • Psychiatric Conditions
  • Cancer
  • Stroke
  • Chronic Lung and Heart Condition
  • Alzheimer's Disease
  • Dementia
  • Mobility Issues

The type of long distance medical ground transport the patient requires depends on their medical needs and the type of discharge transport the sending facility determines is appropriate.

Ground Ambulance

In most cases, the ambulance level of service depends on the current patient’s condition and medical needs at the time of transport. If your physician orders a discharge that requires on-going medical care until the new destination is reached, then a basic life support, advanced life support, or critical care ambulance may be needed. Global Reach Medical can assist you to determine the level of ambulance required.

Specialty Care Transports

Global Reach Medical has the experience and expertise to arrange ground ambulance transportation of patients suffering virtually any medical condition or traumatic injury.

We can arrange specialty care ambulance services for patients with severe burns, psychiatric conditions, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, organ transplant recipients, cardiomyopathy, cancer, and a myriad of other medical and traumatic conditions.

We are also able to provide critical care ambulance transport for any age patient, beginning with infants and pediatric cases all the way through advanced age.

Long Distance Medical Coach

Non-ambulance transport is the least costly type of transport that we provide. The long distance medical coach is a very good alternative for patients that need comfort care and are unable to sit for long periods of time. It is best for medically stable patients that will most likely not require emergency medical response.

The long distance medical coach is provided with a non-ambulance vehicle so the ride is very comfortable. Care is provided by medical professionals, but the vehicles are not licensed as ambulances.

Bariatric Transports

Patients that are morbidly obese may need to be transported by a bariatric ambulance. Bariatric ambulances have modified equipment to manage an obese patient. Whereas air ambulances are constrained by the size of their cargo doors, bariatric ambulances do not have this restriction and can transport most patients.

Bariatric transports require a specially equipped stretcher and ambulance that is designed to load and safely accommodate most patients who weigh more than 300 pounds or 137kgs.
